Avive Physio

As a child I grew up within the healthcare system with my own long-term diagnosis. This has helped me to appreciate the struggles of healthcare, but also how it is percieved from the recipients viewpoint. These experiences have (and will continue to) shape my practice with those around me and have helped build empathy, but also communication, as healthcare (and all the jargon with it!) can be very daunting!

Since graduating fron UWE in 2021, during the week you will find me working within the NHS helping people of all backgrounds, from young adults with sporting injuries, to those who have taken an unexpected trip to the hospital. My time in the NHS has given me the opportunity to encounter a range of conditions and people which has helped shape the way I practice. While my hobbies rely around the gym and high level sports such as mountain biking, my NHS experiences have helped me to tailor to those who do not find solace in these sorts of activities.

Outside of outpatient physiotherapy, I may be found on the wards, both NHS and private helping people recover from surgeries, both planned and unexpected. This has helped me to better understand people's experiences of healthcare from all different angles, and further developing my knowledge.

During my studies, I undertook an additional Level 3 diploma in Sports Massage which I practiced during my training years, and still use to date within outpatient clinics. My more recent adventures have found me delving into the world of vertigo (dizziness) and supporting people's recovery.
